Beschreibung: | The professorship is associated with the status of a division at the DKFZ. Moreover, the professor will have a leadership position at the NCT/UCC Dresden. The Technical University Dresden closely cooperates with the NCT. The NCT with sites in Heidelberg and Dresden is a strategical liance of the DKFZ and university as well as non-university partners on site, which aims to establish an international center of excellence of patient-oriented translational cancer research in Germany.The NCT/UCC Dresden is supported by the DKFZ, the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, the Medical Faculty of the Technische Universität Dresden and the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf. One of its research focuses is on local oncological therapies. The holder of the professorship for Translational Imaging in Oncology will contribute to this goal. In doing so, he collaborates multidisciplinarily in order to develop innovative approaches of diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine and medical physics in oncology with the aim of translating them into clinical practice by clinical trials. These include innovative radio-diagnostic methods of anatomical and functional imaging and/or nuclear medicine approaches of molecular imaging by applying innovative tracers. |
Qualifizierung: | We are looking for an internationally recognized outstanding researcher with excellent expertise in the above research field. The position is aimed at physicians who have a proven track record of designing and conducting innovative translational clinical trials in oncological imaging. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the establishment of an interdisciplinary Department of Translational Imaging in Oncology as well as to the further development of the NCT site in Dresden and NCT structures connecting the other partner sites. The professorship will closely cooperate with the Institutes for Radiological Diagnostics as well as Neuroradiology at the University Hospital Dresden, the Clinic for Nuclear Medicine, the OncoRay – National Center for Radiation Research in Oncology, all partners cooperating within the NCT, the Institutes for Radio-Pharmaceutical Tumor Research and Radio-Oncology of the HZDR, the DKFZ, the planned further NCTs and the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK). The successful candidate is expected to engage in the Dresden program of problem-oriented medical teaching, the NCT School of Oncology as well as in the academic self-administration of the university. |

The appointment follows the Berlin Model with (partial) allocation of the professor to the DKFZ and partial reimbursement of costs by the DKFZ, respectively. Since a considerable amount of medical work is involved in translational studies, a non-pay-scale employment contract can be obtained at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden. If the legal requirements for civil servants are met, the candidate can be appointed as a civil servant for life time. In accordance with § 58 SächsHSFG (Saxon Law on Higher Education), candidates must have completed university studies in medicine, a doctorate and habilitation or equivalent scientific accomplishments and have proven experience in teaching. The successful candidate must have all necessary qualifications to practice medicine in Germany. The successful candidate has a proven track record of scientific and/or clinical leadership experience as well as the ability to raise third-party funds.
